Hello and welcome!
My name is Peggy Bishop. I am a dedicated, passionate, and highly qualified integrative counsellor of children and young people. I am passionate about helping children and young people to be able to help themselves.
I offer a safe environment for children and young people to be able to express themselves without being judged. Somewhere that they are accepted and celebrated for who they are. A place where together we can explore emotions and any difficulties they may be experiencing and discover coping strategies that work for the individual child or young person.
I feel that there is a huge need for more support for our children and young people. I have a specialist interest in working with LGBTQIA+ children and young people. I have a deep understanding of the issues and problems that the LGBTQIA+ community are affected by. I want to help give a voice to those in the community, a chance to be heard and to know that they have a safe place of which they can do so.
I provide short and long term counselling sessions remotely by telephone and online. I have over two years of telephone and online experience of working with children and young people. I am warm, caring and nonjudgmental. I can offer your child or young person a safe place where they can speak openly and freely without the worry of being judged or not being heard. I am adept and efficient with a compassionate understanding of a wide range of client needs. I believe strongly in confidentiality and building therapeutic connection.
As an integrative counsellor, I use a range of therapeutic techniques and approaches, such as person centred, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), mindfulness, systemic family therapy, and creative therapies, just to name a few.
I am a registered member of the BACP (British Association for Counsellors and Psychotherapists), working within their Ethical Framework for Good Practice. My registration number is 393127. I also hold full indemnity insurance, registered with the Information Commission Office (ICO) and have an updated enhanced DBS. My working experience ranges from owning my own private practice, a counsellour for a children’s mental health charity, a schoolteacher and a nursery nurse.
I have knowledge and experience of working in many areas including LGBTQ+, emotional support, depression, anxiety, eating disorders, trauma, abuse, bereavement, bullying, low self-esteem, obsessive compulsive disorder, self-harm, suicide awareness, and self-care.
In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my daughter and two cats. My hobbies include painting, photography and collecting Alice in Wonderland memorabilia.
